My first impression of GoGreen’s latest one sized (OS) pocket diaper, The Champ Gen 3.0, was an ”ooohhhh.” This is most definitely not just another OS pocket. I’ll admit I was initially drawn in by the pretty prints. Having seen the giraffe one in person, they really are as vibrant and beautiful in person as I had hoped. Pretty only gets a diaper so far, of course – this pocket diaper has some features that are unique and pretty impressive.
It does have the standard OS pocket features of a snap down rise (4 rows), a snap-down microfiber insert, and microsuede inner material.
The feature that has me the most excited is the Adapt-a-Snap® (add-on – not a standard feature) that allows you to convert your front snapping Champ 3.0 to a hook and loop closure diaper! I love a hook & loop closure for its ease of use when baby is little. I’ve found that hook and loop can be irritating to the belly and upper thighs around the time they start sitting up and crawling (and figure out how to undo the hook and loop!). But it’s generally a shorter lived problem and hook and loop can be used again without a problem when they are toddlers. This diaper solves that problem very well.
The snaps are color coded which makes it easier to remember which setting to use (my daughter is green on the bottom set, blue on the top). There is even a crossover snap for little newborns which is very nice.
The hip snap is handy especially for the smaller sizes as it prevents the excess front panel from falling through the leg hole. It can irritate your toddler’s hips when used on the largest settings, though.
The insert can snap into the pocket so they will stay together in the wash. The pocket is open on both ends (and the opening is large!), so the insert can agitate out easily if not snapped in. I’ve found the insert still agitates out in the wash even when snapped in place which is nice. The only drawback is that the insert snap uses the same snap used for the snap down for smaller sizes so you cannot use the insert snapped down (as for the smaller sizes) and snap it into the pocket.
The Champ 3.0 is made with a double layer of PUL so even the pretty prints can be used at nap/bedtime! This is something very few print PUL diapers can do so I was excited to find one that worked so well.
The dual gussets™ are pretty great – providing a very secure fit around even skinny thighs without leaving red marks on chunkier legs.
The Bottom line
This is a feature rich OS PUL pocket diaper that works well. It fits my daughter well (as you can see) and is not very bulky on her. The fit on a toddler would be more of a bikini fit and more full coverage for babies which is fairly common with an OS diaper. It may not be the trimmest option for the tiniest babies as some of the features that make it so great (double PUL, gussets) also add a bit more material/bulk to the diaper. It certainly CAN be used from the early days, though – the waist opening can be quite small and the rise snaps down nicely.

I love the colored snaps. When I send my GoGreen diapers to my mom it is so easy to tell her to snap on green and purple rather than having to count and show her!
